Services

Genesis House

Emergency Shelter

Genesis House Provides a free, safe haven for women and their children who are victims of violence/sexual assault.  Residents share a kitchen, dining room, children's play-room, quiet room, common living room and bathrooms.  Advocacy services help clients access financial, legal, medical, employment, and other assistance as needed.  Agency staff are available 24 hrs a ay, 365 days a year.

Crisis Intervention and Counseling

Counseling Department Services

The Women's Center offers free, confidential services to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.  We provide the following:

  • Two 24-hour hotlines answered by certified counselors
  • Support groups
  • Individual counseling by appointment
  • Referrals to appropriate services for mediacal, psychological, financial, legal and housing information
  • Court and law enforcement advocacy
  • 9-1-1 emergency cell phones
  • Advocacy to obtain Temporary Restraining Orders and Protective Orders
  • Medical assessments and care referrals
  • Assistance to victimes at the hospital and police stations

  • Parenting Support
  • Building Healthy Relationships

Phoenix House

Transitional Living Program

Phoenix House residents are women and families left homeless due to domestic violence/sxual assault who need safe, affordable housing and support services provided in a structured environment. The programs help residents develop self-esteem and the life skills to live independently.  Enrollment in education and job training is an integral part of the program. The Phoenix House program also includes;

  • Parenting education and support groups
  • Individual case management
  • Educational workshops for adults on topics such as budgeting, nutrition, and home maintenance
  • School readiness and after-school tutoring programs
  • Financial assistance for education and job training

Phoenix House is a 6 to 24 month program, Case management is available to former residents for up to one year after they have left the program.

Health Services

Health assessments and referrals are available to Women's Center clients.  A registered nurse helps identify healthcare needs, refers to appropriate resources, assists in applying for medical insurance and benefits, and provides education related to individual and family health issues.

Free training to health and human service agencies working with individuals and families impacted by domestic violence.  Training provided by healthcare professional and customized for your group.
